New Free Online Harley Rides Book

Here is the latest edition of my Harley Rides in Melbourne Online Book which contains lots of great images of Melbourne and shows the typs of things we use our bikes for.

You would be amazed at what we get asked to do, from television work, filming for Tourism Victoria, taking tourists down the Great Ocean Road or up into the Dandenong Ranges. The options are endless.

Melbourne Sights

One of my passions is photography. This is what you will see when you visit Melbourne:

There is a lot to do and see. Great cafes, there are many events happening all year round. Melbourne is the Shopping Capital of Australia. It is also the Sports Capital where you can take in everything from Australian Rules Football, Soccer, Rugby, Cricket, Horse racing - the Melbourne Cup Carnival, and everything in between!

Things to do in Melbourne

Melbourne is a fantastic city. I should know, because in any single week I travel all around it on my Harley Davidson Heritage Softail motorcycle taking people for Harley Rides. But, the thing that constantly amazes me is the fact that most tourists visiting Melbourne rarely venture far from the CBD.

With that thought in mind, I thought that I would take the time to put together some advice for tourists visiting Melbourne as to what they may be missing out on if they don't seek advice from someone like me, with my intimate knowledge of the best places to visit and the many things which you can do it Melbourne.

Let me start by advising that the best thing to do is to take a quick overview tour. This is what a Harley Ride  entails. It is the best thing to do first (OK I'm biased - but it really is!). Initially, you have two choices - on foot - of by motorized transport. You can only cover a few kms on foot in a day. You can take a bus tour - but, you have to get out of the bus to see things. You could hire a taxi - but you still need to stop and get out to see things. But, seated on the back of a motorcycle as the pillion passenger - its just like walking - and you cover more ground in an hour - than you would by foot in several days - you don't need to stop - you can talk to your rider and they can point out all the relevant sights.

So - the first recommendation - take a Harley Ride.

Now here are my recommendations, all based on experience:

The Colonial Tramcar Restaurant. This is a must. Sure, its expensive, but I have done it three times! Its that good. But you need to book well in advance. So get on the net and book it now.

Restaurant Precincts. Melbourne has a myriad of what I define as "restaurant precincts". Lygon Street is a must, Brunswick Street is also worth it (most tourists miss it), St Kilda and Acland Street especially should not be missed.

Nelson Place in Williamstown, is Melbourne's forgotten jewel. It is possibly one of the most beautiful places to sit out in the sun and relax with a latte. Personally, its one of my favourites. BTW we we take you there on our Harley Rides , you can also get there by ferry from St Kilda Pier or from Southbank.

Take a Hot Air Balloon flight.

Trams are a great and cheap way to get around Melbourne. You can buy a Day Pass for $6.50 and go wherever you like at your own pace. But - you won't be able to get to some of the more remote areas - and that is where a Harley Ride comes in....
